Maybe you've heard people talking about social media. Maybe you understand what it is; maybe you don't. Just so that we're all on the same page, social media is anything that uses the Internet to facilitate conversations between people. The internet has become one of the greatest resources to mine when it comes to engaging potential customers in dialog – not monologue. Few things open up that two-way communication better than public relations on the web in the form of social networks, blogs, wikis, even Twitters. They gave us the Clydesdales; Frank, Louie and the Frogs; the Whassup guys and more. When it comes to building a brand, few companies have done it as well as Anheuser-Busch. That has everyone - especially sports media - wondering whether InBev, who's poised to buy the Missouri-based brewer, will shell out the dollars to maintain the tradition. Anheuser-Busch spent an estimated $378 million on marketing last year, according to Beni Steinman, editor of industry journal Beer Marketer's Insights.
