Crashing Super Bowl XLIV Party crashers seem to be grabbing headlines from all directions lately. If you like ego driven, testosterone filled, contact crushing, blood and sweat type of action, combined with sinfully delicious, finger licking, you have got to tune into Super Bowl XLIV for the fourth annual, Doritos “Crash the Super Bowl” challenge airing February 7 on CBS. The challenge is a contest where people submit self-made Doritos TV commercials. Recently, the Doritos brand announced the six finalists selected from more than 4,000 entries vying for the opportunity to win up to $5 million dollars! Contestants are competing to not only have their self-made commercials win, but the top three commercials will be shown during the broadcast of the Super Bowl! Fans nationwide can vote for the winners by visiting www.crashthesuperbowl.com, but contestants and fans alike will have to wait until game day to see who wins. The bonus to all of this is that if the three consumer created commercials rank in the top-three of the USA TODAY Ad Meter, Doritos will award an additional $1 million to split between the 3 winners. While this competition is a new way to create a commercial, there are some within the advertising community that question the ability to communicate a strategy when commercials are produced this way. The challenge is on! Now it’s time to cast your vote…we did! Updates are available by following @DoritosUSA on Twitter or visiting the official Doritos Facebook page.
