St Patrick’s Day Trivia |
| With the wearin’ of the green just around the corner, we thought it would be fun to share a few little-known facts that just might be a good conversation starter as you hoist your favorite green beverage. |

March 17th is typically (but not always) St Patrick’s Day. When it falls during Holy Week, the Church moves it to avoid conflict. In 1940, it would have coincided with Palm Sunday, so it was moved to April 3rd. In 2008, it was moved to March 15th. It will be 2160 before March 17th coincides again with Holy Week. No word yet on when the party will be scheduled that year, but we’ll keep our ears open. |

St Patrick was not Irish. He was born in Britain around 385 A.D., and his parents were Roman citizens living in either Scotland or Wales, depending on whose story you believe. |

Each year, the Chicago River is dyed green for St. Paddy’s Day festivities. |

St. Patrick is the patron saint of engineers. As such, the Missouri University of Science and Technology (in Rolla) has a big annual celebration, that includes (among other things) the painting of 12 city blocks green.
