Can't Be Spring Break Without Facebook

Just imagine, you’re back in college and spring break is fast approaching.  You suddenly panic because you realize you have no idea where everyone is going, or what the plans will be for the week. The first comforting thought that crosses your mind is Facebook.

It sounds silly to say, but Facebook is making a lot of college students' jobs of organizing spring break trips a lot easier.  Any person can get onto their Facebook account and either simply ask a question on their status update like “Where is everyone going on spring break?” or merely conduct a search for “spring break” to gather input on their friend’s future activities. The search results would include over 500 spring break groups, multiple mentions on friend’s posts, web sites to visit for spring break ideas, spring break applications, advertisements, and also created event pages.

Facebook gives college students the tools to plan and implement a social function by basically creating an event and having friends respond. This is just one example how social networking sites like Facebook have the resources necessary and the power to help influence college students.  Many popular businesses in vacation hotspots that thrive on college spring breakers are recreating their marketing plan to target the online community. By posting ads on Facebook and Twitter, these businesses are seeing results already by the amount of hotel reservations made for a spring break. Social networking sites such as Facebook are making a spring breaker’s life essentially easier by the click.

So once again imagine you are a college student and that this time you are actually on spring break at the beach.  You suddenly panic, but this time it’s because you left your I-phone in your hotel room and you have no way to update your Facebook status to brag about how much fun you are having!

One can only imagine…
