And the winner is… Sure the game is over – and the Giants were victorious – but the show has just begun. We’re starting to see those commercials that debuted during the Super Bowl on our favorite TV programs. Like any other year, there were lots of hits and misses – Naomi Campbell dancing with lizards, a miss; the talking stain for Tide-To-Go, a hit. Some advertising pundits continue to remind us that spending $2.7 million for a 30-second spot during television’s most viewed program is over-rated. (And that’s just media cost; another mil or so probably went into production.) Recall the day after the game stinks. But Super Bowl advertising is still great fun – especially during a writers’ strike. We asked our faithful Callistetics readers to vote for their favorite spot in the sport of Super Bowl commercial watching. Apparently, we’re all still entertained – and amazed – by Anheuser-Busch’s ability to deliver fresh, clever creative. We also like a tug on the heartstrings now and then. That’s what we got with our readers’ first choice pick of “Hank,” the Clydesdale who finally made the wagon team after spending a year training with a Dalmation, who put him through Rocky-like paces. Another favorite spot that saw an underdog triumph was from Coca-Cola, whose Macy’s Parade-esque balloon bottle was awarded to Charlie Brown, the perennial underdog who when trying to kick a Lucy-held football has landed on his back more than Britney Spears (oops, did we really say that?). This must have been a year for underdogs, because another of your favorites was the mono-browed, snaggle-toothed working girl whom men found irresistible after she rubbed a little essence of cashew behind her ears and in her cleavage. Nothing like driving men nuts. Both USA Today and TiVo have rankings of the top spots. You can also find video clips on You Tube.
